So Exactly What Is Hydroponics?

There are many advantages to Hydroponic growing
Hydroponic means “water working”. Instead of the traditional farming practice of growing in soil, hydroponic plants grow in a water and nutrient solution. The elements of the nutrition are the same in plants grown in soil, but they are fed directly to the root base as opposed to dispersing a lot of water in the soil and having the plant root search for the nutrition. This allows the hydroponic farmer to save water and not stress the plant because of a lack of water or the essential nutrients.

The ecological advantages of growing hydroponically are fantastic. Hydroponics not only saves water, but also saves land. At Hydro Harvest Farms most of our systems are stacked. This allows us to grow 6 times as much food in the space it takes 1 plant to grow in the dirt. Also it allows for crops to grow in areas where growing traditionally has been a problem. Places where water is at a minimum, where soil is poor, where farm land is too expensive, and where temperatures may hinder growth.

Hydroponic growing helps eliminate all soil borne diseases. Insect problems are easily monitored and we prefer Integrated Pest Management or all Organic controls. There is no need for chemical pest controls. We also eliminate any disease borne from soil containing high levels of E-coli, because we use NO soil. There are no weeds to pull and no soil to till. You can grow just about anything. Especially it is ideal for strawberries, tomatoes, lettuces and leafy vegetables, cucumbers, beans, herbs and all kinds of flowers. Hydro Harvest Farms has all of these foods and more growing year round. Because of controlling the nutrient to the plant we enjoy faster growth and more yield.

If you are interested in Hydroponics as a hobby, or a business, we will be more than happy to lend you our expertise and advice. We have everything needed to start a backyard garden or a commercial farm.
